Access Elevator, Inc. and members of our staff were delighted to attend Independence First’s Empower Gala 2026: Illuminating Independence on Thursday, October 22. Held at Boerner Hall at Boerner Botanical Gardens, the event celebrated independence, possibility, and community while supporting Independence First’s mission of advancing freedom and independence for people with disabilities. independencefirst.org
It was a wonderful night with even better company, and our team was grateful for the opportunity to come together in support of an organization whose work connects so closely with our own.
An Evening Celebrating Independence
With its “Illuminating Independence” theme, this year’s Empower Gala brought supporters together for an evening featuring fine cuisine, auction offerings, and meaningful connections. The garden setting provided a beautiful backdrop for a celebration centered on creating opportunities for people with disabilities in our community. independencefirst.org
For our staff, attending was an opportunity to enjoy time together outside of our daily routines while supporting a shared purpose. Moments like these remind us that building a more accessible community involves both the work we do and the relationships we develop along the way.
Supporting a Mission That Matters
Independence First is a nonprofit Center for Independent Living offering programs, services, and resources that help people with disabilities live independently in the community. Its work includes personal care assistance, independent living services, and educational and recreational opportunities. independencefirst.org
At Access Elevator, Inc., helping people navigate their homes and communities with greater independence is at the heart of what we do. Through Stair Lifts, Wheelchair Ramps, Residential Elevators, Accessible Bathrooms, and other accessibility solutions, our team sees the difference that removing barriers can make in everyday life.
Supporting organizations like Independence First is a meaningful extension of that commitment.
Great Company and a Shared Purpose
One of the best parts of the evening was sharing it with our staff and others who care about accessibility and inclusion. We are thankful to everyone from the Access team who attended and helped make the night so enjoyable.
Thank you to Independence First and everyone who helped bring the Empower Gala to life. We look forward to finding more opportunities to support this amazing organization, connect with our community, and enjoy more memorable evenings together.
