The holidays have a way of reminding us what really matters—people, community, and taking care of one another. At Access, giving back during this time of year has become more than a tradition. It’s something our team truly looks forward to.
For several years now, we’ve partnered with SEDOL (Special Education District of Lake County) to help support local families during the holidays. What started with adopting one family grew into two families for several years, and this year we were honored to take on three families. That growth says a lot about the hearts of the people at Access.
This isn’t just an “office project.” Staff members, subcontractors, and even spouses and children jump in to help. It becomes a full team effort, and one that reminds us how lucky we are to be able to give back.
How It All Comes Together
Each holiday season starts with a simple conversation. We reach out to the SEDOL Director to let them know how many families we’re able to adopt. Toward the end of November, the families are shared with us—and then the real work (and fun) begins.
More Than Just Gifts
Once everything is wrapped and ready, the gifts are delivered by the required deadline. Our hope is always the same—to help create a magical Christmas and moments that bring real joy to the families receiving them.
This partnership with SEDOL is a powerful reminder that what we do extends beyond elevators and accessibility solutions. It’s about people. It’s about community. And it’s about showing up when it matters.
