On Tuesday, March 17, Access Elevator, Inc. proudly attended the Wisconsin Esports Summit at the UWM Panther Arena. Hosted by the Milwaukee Esports Alliance, the event brought together leaders, educators, students, and industry professionals from across the state to explore the rapidly growing world of esports and its future.
The summit delivered an engaging and forward-thinking experience, featuring panel discussions, industry speakers, networking opportunities, and immersive gaming experiences such as virtual reality, sim racing, and competitive gameplay on the arena’s main stage. It was clear throughout the event that esports continues to evolve at an incredible pace—and with that evolution comes a growing responsibility to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all participants.
Building Meaningful Partnerships
A highlight of the day was connecting and collaborating with Ben Hinkel and Carly Major from Access to Independence. Their passion, insight, and commitment to accessibility made a lasting impact on the conversations taking place throughout the summit.
Carly and Ben were amazing partners to have, and together we experienced a very positive reception from attendees. Their work within Wisconsin’s Independent Living Network continues to shine a light on the importance of assistive technology and inclusive practices—not just in everyday living, but in emerging spaces like gaming as well.
Thank you so much for supporting our adaptive gaming ventures!!
Why Accessibility in Gaming Matters
The conversations at the summit reinforced an important truth: gaming has the power to connect people across the world—but only if it is accessible. For many individuals with disabilities, barriers still exist, whether through physical controls, inaccessible setups, or a lack of inclusive gaming environments.
Being part of this discussion allowed Access Elevator to extend its mission beyond traditional home and building modifications and into the world of recreation and technology. As esports continues to grow, it presents a unique opportunity to build inclusivity from the ground up.
Expanding the Mission of Access Elevator
For more than three decades, Access Elevator has been committed to removing barriers and advancing independence. From stairlifts and elevators to full home, bathroom, and vehicle modifications, our focus has always been on creating safe, accessible environments for individuals of all abilities.
Attending events like the Wisconsin Esports Summit allowed us to continue that mission in new and innovative ways—supporting conversations that push accessibility forward in industries shaping the future.
A Look Back
We are grateful to have been part of such an impactful event and to stand alongside partners who share our vision for a more inclusive world.
