Access Welcomes Options for Independent Living for Accessibility Training

Access Elevator, Inc. recently welcomed the team from Options for Independent Living to our Neenah, Wisconsin, office for a full day of “Overcoming the Stairs” training with our Business Development Manager, Cassandra.

The training provided an opportunity to discuss accessibility challenges, explore solutions for overcoming stairs, and share information about equipment that can help people remain safe and independent at home. These solutions may include stairlifts, wheelchair lifts, vertical platform lifts, home elevators, and other accessibility products designed around an individual’s needs and living environment.

We greatly appreciate the Options team’s commitment to keeping its accessibility knowledge current. By learning about available mobility solutions, its team can continue connecting consumers, families, and community members with valuable information and resources.

Who Is Options for Independent Living?

Options for Independent Living is a consumer-controlled, community-based, cross-disability, nonresidential nonprofit agency. As an Independent Living Center, Options is designed and operated within the local community by individuals with disabilities.

The organization believes in and practices the independent living philosophy, which supports the right of people with disabilities to make their own choices, direct their lives, and participate fully in their communities. Options provides an array of independent living services intended to empower consumers and help remove barriers to independence.

“Cross-disability” means the organization serves people with many different types of disabilities rather than focusing on one diagnosis or condition. “Consumer-controlled” means individuals with disabilities play a central role in the organization’s leadership, programs, and services.
